Boston was originally known as Beantown because the native Americans used to produce and consume a whole lot of baked beans in Boston (Or something loosely along those lines). Naturally I thought it was hilarious.
We missed out on getting into NYs Comedy Cellar, so were determined not to miss out this time. We went to the Improv Asylum which was ok. Reminded me of a more skilled version of Space Jump from high school. Casey and I were grateful for not being right at the front although the actors didn't call on the audience too much, except for scenario suggestions.
We followed some of the Freedom Trail, although there were too many distractions to know what the trail was really all about. Had a delicious lobster roll for lunch and then crossed over the river away from the big city toward Cambridge, naturally on the hunt for an Apple store.
Although the walk was fairy pointless, finding a great bloody tyrannosaurus made it all worthwhile. Well, for me at least!
On the walk back we came over a different bridge, which landed us on the door step of TD Garden, home of the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins. As the hockey and basketball season are usually played fairly unilateral (Hockey season has had a late start due to the owners striking for more money, despite players wanting to play), it seemed a little crazy to constantly be freezing the surface then polishing the wood for the bballers... I have no idea how they do this but it seems pretty intense!
Leaving the stadium we found this statue of hockey player, Bobby Orr scoring the winning goal for the Staney Cup...Although it looks more like a brutal stack.
It just wouldn't be a trip to Boston without seeing the Blue Man Group (So we were told), so like the good little tourists we are we went along to that. I don't know if I'd call it a "sensory overload" but it was definitely cool with the music, paint and UV enhancement. I was almighty disappointed that none of the blue men had a festy mustache like Tobias Fünke

Casey, having been to Boston before, took us through town down a fairy-light lit tree path to the Prudential Tower where we caught the elevator to the 52nd floor to a swanky bar. Purchasing one not-overly overpriced drink each we proceeded to gaze out of the glass windows on all 360 degree angles taking in the most of Boston city at night. Twinkly loveliness.
